Biography

Eric McGarrah is a group leader for the Disruptive Technology group in the Physical Detection Systems and Deployment division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). He manages projects focused on applying machine learning for national security applications.

Since joining PNNL in 2011, he has managed projects across the laboratory, including domestic and international nuclear nonproliferation deployment programs and nuclear material minimization projects. He has experience managing high-risk projects in Integrated Operations Systems (IOPS) and non-IOPS environments and leading large programs. Since 2019, McGarrah has served as the chair of the PNNL Intergovernmental Personnel Assignment, Management and Operations, and other Assignment Team, responsible for coordinating offsite assignments across the laboratory. He also served as a team leader within the Technology Systems Integration group.

Prior to joining PNNL, McGarrah was a transportation engineer for the Washington State Department of Transportation, responsible for leading regional design and construction projects. He holds a BS and MS in civil engineering from Washington State University and the University of Washington, respectively, and an MS in Systems and Engineering Management from Texas Tech University. McGarrah is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Washington.
