Biography

Dr. Cleary is a postdoctoral research assistant with the Ecosystem Interfaces team in PNNL’s Environmental Molecular Sciences Division and the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) user program. He is working on the development of a capillary absorption spectroscopy system capable of making high sensitivity stable isotope measurements with lower sample size requirements relative to other instrumentation. The system will be used to examine the contribution of root exudate and plant derived carbon in mediating microbial biogeochemical cycling within the rhizosphere. Prior to his arrival at PNNL, Cleary developed paleoclimate and paleoenvironmental records from stable isotopes of carbon and nitrogen in geological deposits.
