Biography
Cassie Frankovich is a strategic communications professional who is passionate about building engagement and demonstrating impact. In her role as Energy & Environment Directorate (EED) Communications Lead, she provides strategic internal and external communications support to EED leadership and oversees the directorate's broader external communications strategy. Her work also includes annual planning and budgeting, message development and alignment, creative problem-solving, and process improvement to increase efficiency. Before serving as EED Communications Lead, she supported communications for PNNL's wind energy and buildings efficiency research, telling the story of the people behind the research and how that research is making an impact in the real world.
Her previous experience includes communications for two other national laboratories, where her work has spanned a variety of additional renewable energy and environmental topics, including solar energy, biofuels, sustainable materials, grid resilience, renewable energy integration, hydropower, and geothermal energy. Her energy-related communications experience also encompasses broader topics such as energy policy, energy infrastructure, disaster recovery, and more. This, in addition to her experience supporting marketing agencies and law firms, gives her nearly two decades of experience in marketing and communications.
In 2017, she earned a Professional Renewable and Sustainable Energy Certificate from the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Institute, a joint institute between the University of Colorado Boulder and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory designed to address important, complex problems in energy that require a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional approach. There, she studied energy science, policy, and business.
