Biography

Angela Norbeck is a data scientist, project manager, and line manager in the Physical and Computational Sciences Directorate (PCSD). She has been at PNNL since 2004, starting in the proteomics group in EMSL, the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory, and transitioning into the National Security Directorate before joining PCSD in 2019. She has a background in data workflow development, data analysis, integration of high-performance computing (HPC) into workflows, and databases. She currently manages projects involved in national security, cybersecurity, and software development supporting molecular chemistry. She also manages the Computational and Data Engineering group, which includes three teams of researchers in mathematics, materials science, software engineering, and data architectures. 

Norbeck draws from her years of experience in biological data analysis and data sciences to explore solutions in biosecurity, cybersecurity, and computing. Specific areas of focus in computing include data integration, big data management, using HPC for performance optimization, and user interfaces with intelligent controls and monitoring.
