Biography

Andrew White is an energy equity and environmental justice systems researcher at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He develops technical equity, resilience, and sustainability-based approaches and policy solutions to support a just clean energy transition.

White delivers action-oriented analyses that span energy systems, the environment, and watershed resources. The outcomes of his work contribute to the evaluation and improvement of infrastructure in disadvantaged communities. His research involves directly engaging with external stakeholders in multiple sectors, from community-based organizations to federal agencies. He’s led and contributed to discussions, forums, and symposiums with community organizers, national research center directors, and federal agency executives.

White completed an international Fulbright Fellowship in political ecology, an interdisciplinary environmental social science, at the Lancaster Environment Centre (LEC) in the UK. His research at LEC led to further international fieldwork in the Caribbean on his family’s home island of Jamaica.

His previous experience includes environmental, social, governance, and climate advisory consulting in the private sector. His work produced research-driven insights about the benefits and feasibility of participating the global voluntary carbon markets. White supported federal resilience and sustainability programs in the buildings sector. He contributed to the award-winning development, pilot, and technical assistance of the Federal Energy Management Program’s Technical Resilience Navigator.
