Alex Vlachokostas
Biography
Alex Vlachokostas is a research engineer in the Building & Connected Systems group. His research interests include energy modeling, energy efficiency, connected devices in residential buildings, and transactive energy. He received his bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in Athens, Greece. Then, he pursued his MS in Sustainability at City College of the City University of New York and participated in the college's Solar Decathlon project sponsored by the Department of Energy. Followed by the MS, Alex continued his studies to pursue a PhD in Electrical Engineering.
During his PhD studies, he interned with private engineering companies and national laboratories, which helped him advance his all-round education in building energy systems. Alex is always interested in innovative low-cost/high-impact projects that can reduce energy consumption in both residential and commercial buildings.
