About Training, Outreach, and Recruitment for Cybersecurity in Hydropower

In 2023, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) and the Department of Energy’s Water Power Technologies joined to establish TORCH (Training, Outreach, and Recruitment for Cybersecurity in Hydropower). By partnering with TORCH, industry leaders are exposed to engaged candidates striving toward a career in hydropower cybersecurity. This initiative aims to engage industry and academia through its interesting and engaging curriculum dedicated to developing the next generation of cybersecurity experts specializing in hydropower technology and governance.

Can't join us? Send TORCH your current job openings for promotion through the UTEP career coordinators office prior to the event or to promote at the event in your absence.

WHY TORCH?

TORCH curriculum provides the necessary hydropower tailored cybersecurity knowledge to the participants, so they learn how to apply their skills to protect hydropower facilities and ascertain continuous operation of its critical functions. Each activity of TORCH provides information about the cybersecurity tasks to be performed, the underlying concepts, and the skills required for personnel to effectively represent and apply concepts and practices in their current or future roles.
