The invention disclosure provides processes and materials engineering protocols for the modification of the structure and morphology of carbonate minerals (eg. calcium/magnesium-based), that would enable lowering of their thermal decomposition threshold to generate oxides, and thus enhance the efficiency of direct air capture of CO2 using such materials.
