Biography
Joseph Aguayo is a cybersecurity executive with deep expertise leading data science and AI programs to protect critical infrastructure for the energy grid, national security systems, and the banking/financial sector.
As deputy chief information security officer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Aguayo oversees the Cybersecurity Data Science and AI organization, leading threat intelligence, threat hunting, cybersecurity engineering, and vulnerability management while directing lab-wide efforts to protect core technologies such as generative AI and hybrid multicloud.
Previously, Aguayo was a senior computer scientist at the Department of Defense, managing research and development programs supporting national security, counterterrorism, and digital forensics. His work has produced four cybersecurity patents, and he has held computer science research appointments at North Carolina State University and the University of Maryland, College Park.
