This paper reviews the state of the art in risk assessment and consequences related to critical infrastructure. Different risk assessment methods are analyzed based on their goals, application domains, impacts, and consequences. This paper depicts an in-depth analysis of the existing risk assessment methods and highlights the advantages, and disadvantages associated with those methods. In addition, this paper also articulates the research challenges that are associated with developing an economically quantifiable risk assessment method or framework.
