Organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) are solid-state devices that have seen widespread application in display devices, but they are new to the architectural lighting industry. This report documents the installation of an OLED system for general lighting in the offices of Aurora Lighting Design, Inc. near Chicago. It covers the technical and construction issues encountered, the response from the people who use it, recommendations for luminaire and OLED system manufacturers, and expectations for the future of OLEDs.
