An Efficient, Solvent-Free Process for Synthesizing Anhydrous MgCl2

Abstract

A novel solvent free method for anhydrous MgCl2 from its hexahydrate is proposed, where in MgCl2?6H2O is dehydrated at 200 oC and ammoniated with NH3¬ directly to form MgCl2?6NH3 (HEX).
