Facilities
The Energy Sciences Center is a new scientific facility at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory that – when open in late 2021 – will serve as a center for energy research and technological innovation. Work in the laboratory will focus on fundamental research in advanced chemistry, materials science and computing. PNNL researchers will use their findings to develop faster, safer and more efficient chemical processes, which is expected to lead to reduced vehicle emissions and the ability to efficiently turn waste into fuels. Work in the new facility will also lead to new materials for energy and transportation technologies. In some cases, new chemicals and materials will be achieved through the incorporation of quantum information sciences.
