Biography

Aaron Diaz joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in 1990 and is a physicist and principal scientist within the Nuclear Engineering and Analysis group. There, his focus has been on ultrasonic and electromagnetic nondestructive examination (NDE) measurements, imaging, and analysis. More specifically, Diaz’s key areas of research and development include dolphin biosonar characterization; material properties measurements; microstructural characterization; flaw detection and sizing in coarse-grained, anisotropic media; and a host of specialized, applied ultrasonic examination and screening techniques.

Diaz holds six U.S. patents, one copyright, and is a project manager and principal scientist for NDE support to the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
