Biography

Jeremy Erickson is a synthetic chemist specializing in the handling of air- and water-sensitive and pyrophoric materials, as well as chemicals of high toxicity. Erickson's experience includes both inorganic and organic molecular synthesis, primarily in the context of catalysis, as well as high temperature chemical vapor transport synthesis. He started his time at PNNL in the Molecular Catalysis Group developing catalysts for the conversion of carbon dioxide to methanol. Prior, his graduate work focused on fundamental chemistry of heavy P-block elements, primarily group 13 and 14 low-valent species, and his first post-doc in Karl Anker Jørgensen's group centered on chiral- and stereo-controlled organocatalysis.

In addition to these, Erickson is an expert in single-crystal X-ray diffraction and works as a spectroscopist in the Chemical Physics and Analysis group, focusing primarily on the collection of high-quality quantitative IR data for the deriving of n and k optical constants for many materials.
