Biography
Nate McDowell was originally trained in plant physiological ecology, the concepts of which he now applies at global scales to understand terrestrial ecosystems. His work has focused on how environmental conditions regulate the distribution, growth, and survival of plants; the subsequent impacts on ecosystem functions; and mitigation strategies. His team uses theory, observations, experiments, and models to generate and test novel hypotheses targeting the largest possible advances in scientific understanding and value to society.
