Biography
Dr. Bin Zhao joined PNNL in April 2019 as an Earth Scientist. His research focuses on the formation mechanisms and control strategies of aerosol pollution, and the interactions between aerosols, clouds, and climate. He works extensively on developing and applying chemical transport models to better understand the sources and formation mechanisms of aerosols, including secondary organic aerosol. He also has rich expertise in developing and evaluating control strategies of aerosol pollution, including both ambient and household pollution. Besides, he has been combining observational data analysis and model simulations to further our understanding of the interactions between aerosols and clouds, including new particle formation and the impact on cloud condensation nuclei, and the impact of aerosols on ice nucleation and ice/mixed-phase clouds.
