I am currently a post-doc at PNNL, working with Dr. L. Ruby Leung. I got my PhD degree at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences in June 2015 with Dr. Tianjun Zhou as my supervisor. During my PhD career, I mainly focused on the long-term change of sea surface temperatures in both the Indian and Pacific Oceans and compared the relative contributions of external forcing and internal variability. From 2015.9-2017.9 I was a postdoc with Dr. Michael McPhaden at NOAA/PMEL awarded by the National Research Council (NRC) Research Associateship Programs. I mainly focused on the decadal variability of the Indian Ocean sea surface temperatures and their relationship with the Pacific Ocean from atmospheric teleconnection and oceanic tunnel. As a postdoc at PNNL, my research aims at the evaluation and analysis of high-resolution climate scenarios using regional climate models and global variable resolution models. Now I am working on the large-scale context for extreme events in the North America.

Research Interests

  • I am interested in the climate variability and climate change from the view of climate dynamics. In particular, the relationships between different regions, basins and climate modes from large-scale ocean-atmosphere interaction and circulation are what I want to make clear. The interaction between extreme weather and large-scale background change under global warming is also an interesting topic I focused on.
