Biography

Dr. Aaron Wright is a Senior Scientist and the Associate Director of the Biological Sciences Division and Director of the Biological Systems Science Group at PNNL. He also holds a joint appointment as a research professor in the Gene and Linda Voiland School of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering at WSU. Aaron earned his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin with Prof. Eric Anslyn, and then carried out a postdoctoral fellowship in Chemical Biology with Prof. Benjamin Cravatt at The Scripps Research Institute. At PNNL, Aaron's research has focused on new chemical biology developments that are enabling function-driven research to improve our understanding of: (i) the impact of chemical exposures on drug and xenobiotic metabolism at the host-gut microbiome interface; (ii) the role that chemical exposures in early human development have on later life disease outcome that arise as a result of perturbations to the gut microbiome; (iii) microbial spatial and metabolic interactions in complex microbiomes; and (iv) mapping protein and receptor interactions of drugs, vitamins, opioids, and other small molecules of interest.
