Waters Appointed to New National Academies Committee

Study will evaluate modern toxicology approaches for deployed personnel

Congratulations to Dr. Katrina Waters, Deputy Director of Biological Sciences at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory on her appointment to a new National Academies Study on Predictive-Toxicology Approaches. The study committee will evaluate modern toxicology approaches for use by the Department of Defense to predict toxicity, in efforts to prevent debilitating acute exposures to deployed personnel.

Waters was invited to be on the committee because of her strong expertise in microarray and omics data analysis. Her research interests are focused on the reconstruction of cell response networks from integrated gene and protein expression data to enable predictive mechanistic modeling of disease and toxicity pathways.
