Jim Dooley to Serve on the Technical Program Committee for GHGT12

James J. Dooley, researcher at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, was invited to serve on the Technical Program Committee for the 12th International Conference on Greenhouse Gas Control Technologies (GHGT-12). GHGT-12 is the premier international technical conference in the field of carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS).

"Given how important the GHGT series of conferences are for the CCS research community, it is an honor to once again be asked to help shape the content of this prestigious technical conference," said Dooley.

The committee is responsible for the organization and programming of all the technical sessions for GHGT-12. Dooley played a similar role for the 9th International Conference on Greenhouse Gas Control Technologies and organized all conference sessions on integrated CCS systems and the economics of CCS. The GHGT-12 Technical Program Committee is co-chaired by Howard Herzog of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Tim Dixon of the International Energy Agency Greenhouse Gas program. The conference is held every two years with the venue rotating between Europe, Asia and North America. GHGT-12 will be held in Austin, Texas on October 5-9, 2014.

Dooley is a senior scientist working at the Joint Global Change Research Institute, a partnership between PNNL and the University of Maryland. He is also the associate editor for Integrated Systems and Economics for the International Journal of Greenhouse Gas Control (IJGGC). Dooley is sought after for his expertise in CCS research and technology. He was a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage and was a significant contributor to the IPCC report that won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. He is also a leader in the scientific community working on government policy addressing scientific misconduct.
