Biography

 Allie Nagurney is a geoscientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in the Properties and Systems group and supports the Energy and Environment directorate. Nagurney’s recent work has focused on mineral samples (i.e. quartz, garnet, chlorite) and clay nanoparticles. In addition, she has over 5 years of experience as an independently trained user of transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, electron backscatter diffraction, electron microprobe, and with sample preparation. Nagurney’s primary focus of work revolves around carbon mineralization, carbon sequestration and critical materials.

While in these focus areas, Nagurney has acquired many different skills and disciplines such as electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. Aside from being a geoscientist, Nagurney also is a member of the American Geophysical Union and a member of the Geological Society of America. Nagurney obtained her PhD in geosciences from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and she received her BS in geology from Lafayette College.
