US Belle II Operations: Detector, Computing, and Software

December 2014

This proposal requests support for US Belle II Operations at PNNL that includes detector, computing, and software contributions to Belle II. The Belle II detector upgrade will replace the inner tracking systems and particle identification systems of the existing Belle detector as well as the endcap and inner layers of the barrel KL/muon systems (KLM). Belle II has adopted a distributed computing model based on the grid and the KEK/Belle II computing plan includes a U.S. based grid site at PNNL. This proposal includes a request for operations support corresponding to 15% of the Belle II computing grid resources commensurate with the anticipated size of the U.S. collaboration membership on Belle II.
