About the Speaker

Gary Morgan joined Innovate Washington in August 2011 as an Executive Entrepreneur and is currently the interim director, accelerator services. Prior to his retirement, Gary was a senior program manager at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He was responsible for leading the National Security Directorate's (NSD) Public-Private Partnership office, which was designed to accelerate the "translation of science to solutions," and the rapid deployment of laboratory innovations into the private sector. Prior to that, he was in charge of commercialization for NSD. Gary has been responsible for the creation of five new start-up companies, and over 1,200 pieces of intellectual property, which led to many partnerships and licenses.

Before joining PNNL in 1991, Gary had over 20 years of experience in private industry. He managed product innovation and development as well as new product introduction into the marketplace, and was founder/co-founder of several successful start-up companies. Gary has particular interest in helping create and grow new development-stage and start-up companies, and helping inventors protect, mature, and monetize their intellectual property. Gary is focusing his experience in the energy and high-tech sectors including cyber security, advanced big data IT products, and market development strategies using Agile Coaching methods.
