Technical Assistance for Your Small, Clean Tech Business

EERE Small Business Vouchers Pilot LogoDOE Logo - National Laboratory Impact Initiative

Welcome, small businesses in the clean energy sector! You may request technology assistance worth up to $300,000 from U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratories.

DOE is offering this assistance as part of a new national initiative called the Small Business Vouchers Pilot.  This initiative is designed to increase small business access to national laboratory expertise and technology, thereby bringing more technologies to market and increasing the impact of the U.S. clean energy sector.

Researchers will provide customized assistance to selected small businesses in areas that could include advanced manufacturing, bioenergy, buildings, fuel cells, geothermal, solar, vehicle, water power, and wind.  Assistance can range from fundamental science to engineering, testing, and scale-up, including computer modeling, advanced materials testing, product development, field demonstrations, and much more.

DOE national laboratories leading the assistance include Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and Sandia National Laboratories.

Small businesses may apply to be considered for assistance. After undergoing an initial screening and merit review, the selected businesses will be assigned to a national laboratory that will partner with them to provide the assistance.
