Microbes 101

Biology is the study of all living things. Microbiology is the study of very small living things, which can only be seen through a microscope.

Microbes are the smallest organisms on Earth. They eat, excrete, reproduce, and (most often) live in collaborative communities that colonize every surface, living or not. They are tiny but their collective effects on health, the environment, and even the climate are profoundly huge.
