Radiation Biology

PNNL has more than 45 years of experience in conducting in vivo and in vitro radiological and nuclear studies. We offer a range of research capabilities to government clients, industry clients, and research organizations.

The long-standing history of radiation work at PNNL has provided outstanding infrastructure across the lab, including irradiation facilities, dosimetry services, health physics, radiation protection, dose reconstruction and modeling, and isotope storage and handling capabilities.

Scientists at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory perform research to determine the mechanistic basis for the interaction of low doses of radiation with biological systems.

Animal facilities are accredited by the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) International, registered with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and are Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare (OLAW) Assured.
