PNNL is one of the nation's foremost atmospheric science research centers.
The laboratory has a lead role in the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement Program
(ARM), the largest global change research program supported by the U.S. Department
of Energy. The program is home to the department's only research aircraft;
and with the University of Maryland, founded the Joint Institute for Global
Change Research. Our staff can share with you how national and human-caused
sources affect air quality and climate change on local, regional and global
scales—as well as some of the tools and strategies they are developing
to understand and mitigate the negative effects of human activity on the air
we breathe.
