Biography

Bioenergy—the ability to transform human and food wastes, algae, and other biomass into fuel.

As manager of PNNL’s portfolio in biofuels, products, and energy research, Corinne Fuller brings nearly 20 years of expertise in chemical and biological process development, biomass conversion to fuels and chemicals, catalysis, and energy systems analysis.

Fuller's stewardship has led to several industry partnerships. For example, bioenergy company LanzaTech licensed a process for the production of high-quality jet fuel from ethanol in 2018. A month later, Virgin Atlantic Airlines used that jet fuel on a flight from Orlando to London, marking the first commercial flight using this biofuel process.

Fuller is renowned for her passion for sustainability. She was named to a two- to three-year term on the Washington Department of Ecology’s inaugural Recycling Development Center advisory board in 2020. The advisory board is comprised of 14 members that provide guidance to the Washington Departments of Ecology and Commerce to make recommendations on state policies affecting markets for recycled materials. She serves alongside experts from Washington State University, Seattle Public Utilities, and others.

She also received the 2022 Secretary's Achievement Award for the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Grand Challenge. Fuller is recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy as a force in biofuels research, as well as an advocate for science education.

“I’m a huge advocate for multidisciplinary teams where I can bring together and motivate people with different ways of thinking about risks, problems, and ideas,” said Fuller.
