General Description

Applied Process Engineering Laboratory (APEL) is the region's technology incubator. APEL provides access to facilities, entrepreneurial support and business services to assist start up and expanding companies develop new technologies for commercialization. APEL eligibility is open to any company or individual planning to research, develop and / or manufacture new products and services and test new technologies. Facility lease terms range from six months to 5 years. APEL has a wet-lab / bio-lab rented by the day. Incubator programs are provided via service agreement.

APEL staff make connections for clients to consult with experts on management decisions, business planning, financial management and marketing strategy through APEL's network of partners and Advisory Board members.

Incubator Services
The 90,000 square foot facility provides specialized space for developers of a wide range of technologies. The building carries wastewater discharge and gaseous effluent discharge permits supporting a variety of R&D and product production processes. Key features include wet and dry high bay, wet / dry laboratories, business start-up bays, offices and storage. Laboratories are equipped with typical lab utility air, water, power, and effluent connections; hazardous waste storage is available. The building is secured with keycard access. Network includes high-speed broadband plus wireless connectivity. Spaces include telephone hook-up and LAN drops. Shared resources include conference rooms, copiers / scanners, storage, and mail / freight delivery services. Technical services available include a certified analytical laboratory, instrument calibration services, and environmental / waste management professional staff. Business, finance and marketing expertise is available through APEL's network of partners and Advisory Board members. Entrepreneurial development is provided via one-to-one coaching and educational workshops.

Marketing Services
APEL partners with several firms that provide marketing support to identify target markets, create brand strategies, marketing plans, and develop communication tactics and tools.

Regulatory Assistance
APEL holds a wastewater discharge permit and a gaseous effluent discharge permit covering building and tenant.
