  • In December 2012, IEEE established a new Industry Connection activity focused on establishing recommendations for a Smart Energy Data Center capable of providing the broad research community access to a variety of power data sets. Terence Critchlow was selected to lead the Architecture sub-committee, which is tasked with providing an infrastructure recommendation by the end of the calendar year.

  • Tim Shippert, Chitra Sivaraman and Jerome Fast of PNNL were co-authors of a a poster that was presented at American Geophysical Unionís 45th annual Fall Meeting in San Francisco, California, for the work done in the Organic Aerosol Component Analysis (OACOMP) value-added product (VAP) that is being developed for Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Program. The OACOMP VAP is being developed to assist better interpretation of aerosol effects and aerosol-cloud interactions and contribute to improvement of climate model forecasts. AGU December 2012

  • We are delighted to announce that Chitra Sivaraman is leading the newly founded ARM Data Integration group within the Scientific Data Management group, the team will focus on advanced scientific data management, analysis and integration for observational atmospheric data, in particular as part of the Data Management Facility of the DOE BER Atmospheric Radiation Measurement program.

    We are pleased to announce that Professor Valerio Pascucci has joined the PNNL Scientific Data Management Group in October 2011 as joint appointment with the University of Utah's Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute. Valerio will be strengthening the groups data analysis and visualization efforts.

Kerstin participated in a panel on the future of Data Intensive Science, while Terence moderated that panel, and participated in a second panel on Data Policy, and Data Scientists.
